Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR)

A body corporate authorised by an AFSL holder to provide financial services on behalf of the licensee.

A Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR) is a company that operates an advice practice under another entity’s AFSL. The CAR can in turn employ or sub-authorise individual advisers as ARs. CARs are common in the Australian advice industry because they let practice owners run their own brand and business while relying on an external licensee for compliance, professional standards oversight, and regulatory reporting.
