Financial Adviser

A person authorised under an AFSL to provide personal financial product advice to retail clients in Australia.

Financial advisers in Australia must meet the professional standards set by the Financial Services and Credit Panel and ASIC, including a relevant bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), passing the financial adviser exam, completing a professional year, undertaking continuing professional development, and complying with the Financial Planners and Advisers Code of Ethics. Advisers must be listed on the ASIC Financial Advisers Register before they can provide personal advice to retail clients.
